Proclamation "National Night Out"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The National Association of Town Watch is sponsoring a nationwide crime prevention program on August 2, 2011 entitled “National Night Out.” “National Night Out” provides an opportunity for the City of Sumter to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting proactive police-community crime prevention efforts. All citizens of the City of Sumter are encouraged to partner with the Sumter Police Department in supporting “National Night Out” locally. All citizens of the City of Sumter are encouraged to participate on August 2, 2011 in Sumter’s Night Out Against Crime by turning on front porch lights from 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. and organizing and attending neighborhood events.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Joseph T. McElveen, Jr., Mayor of the City of Sumter, South Carolina, do hereby proclaim, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 as:
“NATIONAL NIGHT OUT"
in the
CITY OF SUMTER
and urge the citizens of Sumter to join the National Association of Town Watch, The City of Sumter, and the Sumter Police Department in supporting National Night Out, Sumter’s Night Out Against Crime.
