Mayor to Recognize Sumter Residents’ Christmas Cheer

SUMTER, S.C. (Dec. 14, 2020) – Mayor David Merchant wants to recognize residents in the City of Sumter who bring a little extra Christmas cheer to the community.

Residents living in the city limits who have decorated their homes this Christmas season will be admitted into a Christmas Cheer Celebration. While the mayor will be observing lights on his own, residents may also submit their home to be eligible to win a prize package valued at $50 to the Swan Lake gift shop and bragging rights in their neighborhood. Lights and decorations must be on from 5 – 9 p.m. to be judged.

“We are looking for Christmas cheer champions in the City of Sumter,” stated Mayor Merchant.

Judging will take place on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, and will be based on overall best lights, creativity and design. Winners will be announced on the City of Sumter’s website and social media on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.
