Hurricane Florence Release #2
4 p.m. Sept. 12, 2018
The offices of City of Sumter and Sumter County Government will be closed Thursday, Sept. 13 and Friday, Sept. 14 due to Hurricane Florence.
We are anticipating a return to a normal schedule at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.
- All City of Sumter Sanitation Services (garbage, recycling and debris) are cancelled for Friday, September 9/14 (services are expected to resume on Monday, September 9/17.
- City of Sumter Commercial Sanitation Services are cancelled for Saturday, 9/15 (services are expected to resume on Monday, September 9/17).
- All City parks will be closed starting tomorrow until further notice.
- Mayewood Middle School at 4300 East Brewington Road has been opened to serve as a shelter. The American Red Cross and the S.C. Department of Social Services are in charge of the shelter and pets are not allowed.
