Staff continues to work throughout the city to clear streets of down trees and other debris. As the storm passes, please use extreme caution, more outages, trees and powerlines down and road debris are possible.
If you encounter road blockages or high water on the roads, please call 803-436-2558. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, all City of Sumter Administrative Offices will be closed on Friday, September 30, 2022.
Additionally, all City sanitation services will be canceled on Friday. There will be no yard debris or cardboard pickup on Friday or Saturday. All Friday commercial and residential customers will have a makeup day on Saturday, October 1. All Friday customers please place your cans out by the curb by 7AM on Saturday for pickup service.
All parks in the City of Sumter are officially closed and will remain closed until the hazardous weather outlook for the area has passed.
High winds and rainfall are expected all day Friday as Tropical Storm Ian passes through the Sumter area. Sustained winds could reach 35MPH and rainfall could reach 4-8 inches.
Residents should keep an eye on their surroundings and be prepared to take action if flooding occurs. If you encounter road blockages or high water on the roads, please call 803-436-2558. In case of an emergency, call 911.
