City of Sumter Inclement Weather Closing and Delays - March 18, 2021

Due to the expected threat of inclement weather all City of Sumter Administrative Offices will be closing early today at 1 PM, Thursday, March 18, 2021.

According to the National Weather Service, a line of thunderstorms will move east across the Sumter area today. Severe storms are likely with the threat of damaging winds, tornadoes and hail. Significant severe weather is possible including tornadoes producing EF-2+ damage and downburst wind gusts exceeding 75 mph.

All City parks will be closing at 1 PM today.

Sanitation Service will continue today as safety allows; however, if you are a Thursday customer and your trash doesn’t get picked up today, please place your can by the road no later than 7AM on Friday to allow crews to finish their Thursday routes.

All offices, parks and sanitation services are expected to resume normal hours Friday, March 19. However, any service delays or future closings will be amended to this announcement.
