Sumter Unveils New Mapping Services
Sumter, SC (Nov. 19, 2019) – Using the latest in Geographic Information Services (GIS) Technology, the Sumter City-County Planning Department has released a new public mapping service for the community.
The update organizes property information, floodplain maps, and zoning data in one user- friendly location. The maps are also accessible by mobile devices.
“This data has been available but housed in various locations and programs,” stated Charles Robbins, GIS Manager. “Having the data on one platform makes it easier for residents and developers alike.”
The new maps are located on the City of Sumter Planning Department webpage www.sumtersc.gov/mapping, and include maps for: Comprehensive Planning, Parcel and Zoning, SCDOT Traffic Counts, Flood Hazards and Floodplain Identification, Census 2020, Weather, and DHEC Restaurants Ratings.
“This rollout is just the beginning. We plan to add additional data as it becomes available,” stated George McGregor, Planning Director.
