Mechanical MaintenanceThe Maintenance Division of the Utilities Department is responsible for the mechanical and electrical maintenance of all equipment and machinery associated with the water and wastewater treatment facilities.  They also maintain 65 lift stations.  The maintenance team consists of a supervisor, an assistant supervisor, 5 maintenance technician III, 2 maintenance technician II, and 2 maintenance technician I.  This team provides all preventive, corrective and restorative maintenance on equipment that operates 24 hours each day in processing and distributing drinking water, or conveying and treating wastewater.

 

Our Maintenance staff is vital in keeping our water and wastewater equipment operating with minimal down time.  They enable the continuous operation of 5 major water plants; 5 small water systems, 1 major wastewater treatment plant and sludge drying operation, 1 sewage lagoon and land application sprayfield; and 65 lift stations.  In addition to the routine monitoring and operation of the numerous lift stations throughout the City and County, the Mechanical Maintenance staff completed 555 work order requests for preventive, corrective, or restorative tasks for the 5 major water plants, wastewater plant, and numerous other water and wastewater facilities and equipment.  These tasks were completed at facilities located throughout Sumter County, to include Rembert, Dalzell, Wessex, Oswego, and Mayesville.
