A fun filled weekend with all day rides, games, crafts, activities, music and food.

 

The Town of Mayesville, SC, home of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, is hosting the 2018 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Festival scheduled for May 18th and 19th in Mayesville SC with the theme; “Empowering Communities Through Health, History, Art, STEM Education, Music and Sports”. It’s going to be a fun-filled and educational weekend with workshops, all day rides, games, crafts, activities, music and food. Lawn Chairs are welcome! Spend the day with us; Family Block Party Friday evening and Saturday afternoon!

 

Grand Marshall for our Parade is Bishop Samuel Green, Sr. of the 7th District African Methodist Episcopal Church. May 19th, 10am is our parade start time.  We are asking all Churches to have a unit in the parade.  Vendors are welcome; 2 days is $125.00 and 1 day is $75.00.

 

Saturday, May 12 at 6pm; Unveiling of Congressman James “Jim” Clyburn Portrait painted by renowned painter Simmie Knox.

 

NCNW, Lee County Section, historical Walk-A-Thon “In the Footsteps of Dr. Bethune” will take place Saturday, May 19th. Registration will begin at 7:00am; the walk will begin at 8:00am.

 

NFL Legends Quarterback Michael Vick and Lineman Jamie Dukes will host a football mini-camp on May 18, from 4pm to 7pm at the Mayesville Elementary School at 11 Pringle St, Mayesville, SC at a cost of $20.00.  Please register online at www.thebethunefestival.com.  Late registration is 4 to 5pm on Friday at the entrance of the Mayesville School.  

 

Others attending are: NBA Legends Dale Davis and Xavier “X-Man” McDaniel; World Heavyweight Boxing Champion James “Bonecrusher” Smith; Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde (Daughter of World Boxing Heavyweight Champion Smokin’ Joe Frazier), retired Harlem Globetrotters Bobby “Zorro” Hunter and Larry “Gator” Rivers.
