A CVB staff member since 2000, she enjoys working with the media and through personal interaction to help people discover our wonderful community, and also add to her own knowledge—particularly of our rich local history. Some of Sumter’s visitors tell the greatest stories!

A native of southeastern NC and graduate of the University of North Carolina, Colette has called Sumter “home” for more than 40 years.  In addition to history, her interests include writing, the arts, DIY, reading, and a little hiking when she gets the chance.

Kathleen Head, Tourism Specialist

Joining the City of Sumter CVB in May 2013, Kathleen Head jumped right into promoting Sumter as a beautiful place to relocate and retire. As the CVB/Visitor Center Tourism Specialist she is able to greet visitors with a warm welcome and point them in the right direction for tours, sightseeing, events and places to live.

Kathleen is a native of Florida, however has lived in various locations.  She has traveled the world with her husband and family, compliments of the United States Air Force.  Stationed at Shaw AFB 2005-2008 and 2012 to present time, Kathleen enjoys calling Sumter her home.

Kathleen’s favorite part of her job is talking to the visitors at Swan Lake Iris Gardens, listening to what they are searching for and pointing them in the right direction to explore!  There is ALWAYS something to do in Sumter.  Take a step outside and enjoy!
